Growing garlic at home is something that YOU CAN DO! Yes, you! If you have the space in the fall and can get your hands in some great quality garlic, then you should definitely try growing this at home. While garlic takes a long time to mature, it is so rewarding harvesting the big heads of garlic, full of flavor, and one of the plus of growing this yourself, is that you know EXACTLY what went ...

Yeah, What do you do with those? I had two so far this year. I can't eat anymore zucchini bread. Sauteed the rest. My dog likes it ,too.
Beautiful garden and you have lot to plant in the gadern ❤
Oh! You have such a beautiful garden! I wish mine would be even half of yours.😊
Ok, your vegetable garden is so beautiful, subscribe to the channel and interact!
You have a beautiful garden. You must really enjoy your garden in the gardening months.
Absolutely LOVE this!!
My tomato got cut halfway off by a snail, I snapped it off and I'm attempting to root it in water, this video is just what I need, thanks!
Thanks for sharing your journey. It's inspirational and aspirational for us beginners. I heard about you because of roots and refuge. Jessica randomly mentioned your channel because she watches and so here I am. This was the first video of yours that I watched because I'm trying to start a channel myself (🎉Shout out to my 99 subscribers 🎉... lol). But I'm looking forward to watching your other videos! Also then q&a at the end of this vid is super helpful! Be well
I watched another lady's video and she put the seed in boiling hot water 💧 and the seed cracked opened in seconds. You may try this technique to see if it works to speed up the process.
Thanks for sharing!
That looks like my pot! I only have one planted in same size pot. I think I will put mine in a larger pot I am watering mine twice a day now!
A wonderful plant and a native to SC. It grows and flowers non stop. Thanks for your video.❤

Thank you!
Your garden looks amazing!
Thank you!
I am trying Thai basil for the first time. I have been drying it in the oven flowers & leaves. I found it better for that application than sweet basil. Good luck
Sounds great!
Some tithonia get absolutely massive. But there are some cultivars that only get 2 or 3 feet tall. I guess we’ll find out 🙃 I waited too long to plant mine out and then we got dry heat and now they seem stunted. There’s enough time left I think…I’m going to try again.
Yeah, you should... at least you will know how late you can plant for the future.
I agree with you! There is still time. Just plant things. We may not get frost till November. What do you have to list? I just planted beets and mini pumpkins and sunflowers.
Supposed to be what do you have to lose. 😅
Yup. I am definitely pushing it this year, the onions will come out soon so I might just plant a bunch of zinnias there.
You still have a lot to pant. I am done, unless i see a good sale hahaha
lol yup, I hear you.
Oh my goodness, I have 5 sunflowers in my little raised bed I counted 11 blooms on one and 7 on another the other 3 arent as large yet but my tallest one is over 8 feet tall. I had no idea I had sunflowers planted. I planted supersized zinnias well I didnt get supersized zinnias but these sunflowers are a very nice suprise. Good luck on your gardens.
Ohhh what a wonderful surprise
That's amazing! You will have lots of birds visiting soon!
We have been getting too much rain so I switched to a granular fertilizer. Plants seem to be ok after we straightened them up from storms. The Tithonia I think needs a longer season because what I thought was a field weed last year turned out to be that flower. It had one flower and the frost took it. Not sure if it was a late bloomer 😅 or just started late. The mosquitoes are disgusting and the dew point today is in the 80s, temp is 91 and was a real feel of 104 but we have an overcast now so it’s down a couple degrees-Lol, I don’t think it matters much. Our low this am was 72. Suppose to get drier cooler air for a couple days and I will look forward to it. Right now I’m stuck inside-just too hideous outside. Z5a, WI.
Ugghhh same so much rain and cooler temps this week. Im in southenr Ontario.
I feel like in a lot of places they went from a cold spring straight to hot summer temps overnight, we had a lot of rain and it was definitely warmer for Spring. We will see how those tithonias do for being planted that late.
Laynlay hydrangeas are beauties
Hello, my garden friend in central Indiana, I'm in northeast Indiana also zone 6! Question: do you also start your onions in October or at the same time as your garlic? Also do you grow from seed, your own seedlings, or purchased starts. I started onions from seed for the first time thru the winter sowing method, planted them out in late March. Although they did not bulb even though being bulbing onions, I was able to harvest nice size green onions. My husband and I love the freshness of these green onions and I will try again. Any tips. I'm not able to start any seeds indoors, I don't have room nor patience! It's either winter or direct sowing for me. Store bought onions are the worst!
I start about 80% of my plants (veggies and some flowers) from seeds, I do have a setup indoors and I REALLY enjoy doing that so it gets easier, I also shop for a lot of starts too. Onions I get now online, because it took too much time for them to fully mature to get outside, the one year I got them at a local store they did really bad, now I purchase mine from Dixondale farms, they have amazing info online on how and when and all the things. Check them out.
I live in TN. I bought a house that has a huge almost 5ft tall patch of red flowering ones that's probably about 15ft+ in diameter. We just cut them back once dead and even got snow and -11 temps this past January and they survived. They were even popping up in our ditch and pasture. We dug those up and planted in another bed.🙌💓
You are about 1-2 zones warmer than me, so it makes sense they come back for you... that is amazing!
How did it do the next year? Still alive?
Nope. Did not make it.
Those boxwood are going to make such a lovely addition. I LOVE you animal print flip flops so cute. I started some coneflower from seed thst I hope end up being hot pink.
Last year I started some from seed, they were supposed to be a nice deep pink double fully gorgeous thing... instead I got a single light pink lol
@@SoilandMargaritas ohh no. I took the seeds off a plant from the library soooo hege
So nicely edited from start planting to harvest. ❤ Thank you so much for sharing.. love garlic. I'm planting garlic this fall. Zone 6b Western Pa.
So nice of you!
You made this area really beautiful. And who needs mortar?...when a weed burner torch would be a fun tool to kill the weeds between the bricks, and it need not be nerve-racking with the garden hose nearby.
Ohhh I didn't think about a burner torch tool.
You're the second person who mentioned Music as a good variety. (Erin from The Impatient Gardener was the other.) Garlic is so easy to grow! I'm on my second season growing it. I haven't cut the scapes yet. I just noticed their appearance. Waiting is sort of like Christmas. We won't know the size until harvest. I ordered mine from Keene's in Wisconsin (I'm in Minneapolis area). I still have bulbs from my first crop and that's after sharing the bounty with friends and family...all from TWO heads of two varieties. First year, I soaked the cloves in water with some rubbing alcohol (per their website instructions), but last fall, I just skipped that part after seeing everyone planting the papery cloves. What recipes do you follow for the scapes? I sauteed mine last year and the taste reminded me of asparagus. But gassy! Whoooowhee! 😆
Lots of things one can do with the scapes and I had plenty to try a few recipes!
I ❤ your videos, I’m in the same zone but in Central Ohio. The boxwoods you mention in this video are going to be a solution for a long-time design issue for me in the micro-climate by my front door. I’m hoping I can find them in a local nursery.
You can order them online if you can't find them locally. I did that for a few of those coneflowers.
Good job, good sharing👍👍👍👍👍👍
I'm about 3 weeks behind you and at the scape stage of hardneck purple Russian. Always wishing I had planted more in the fall!
BEAUTIFUL!
Your garden is an absolute dream all because of your incredible vision and hard work, THANK YOU for sharing I love and am inspired by you and PS I LOVE that brick path ‘a weed magnet’ 😂😂
This video was so enjoyable and motivating! You did an amazing job! I have to admit I didn’t see your vision, but wow! It all turned out beautifully. Thanks for sharing your garden with us.
Thank you so much!
Everything is beautiful, I love the brick path, that gives me a good idea for my garden
Lovely! ❤❤ What are those labels ??? I really like them. So sorry your soil got poisoned on that one bed, I hear sunflowers can help pull out the round up that's likely the cause. Yay, for volunteers!! 🌻🌻🌻
I got my labels from Greenstalk, I really like them (I have a coupon for an extra discount SOIL10)
Maybe decompose granite could work with the brick path😊
I love your brick path!! If you do take it up lay landscape cloth then sand . It will takes care of the weeds but it's beautiful the way it is! Sometimes we need to look to our blooms for perfection and you have tons of that❤❤
You did fantastic Roxana! I’m going to try some garlic this fall ✨🫶🏼💚☘️💚🫶🏼✨
Good luck!
Everything is looking lovely. What is the dark leaved shrub on the left side of the border? My hydrangea that i dug up is blooming also. It is super hot here too. I sm hoping for some cooler weather soon. Thanks for the video.
I got that a while ago, it was labeled standard plum... you probably have seen it in tree - round form, I just shape mine to be more like a flat wall and thin.
I love the look of a path that is not perfect and looks quaint. Your garden design is so beautiful everything works so well together 🌼🐝
Thank you so much!
I love watching you planting flowers, you chose such a beautiful colors ! Since you put the roses in the pots, how you will overwinter them ? I’m in zone 6A 🌸
Good question, I can probably bring them in in my unheated garage but more than likely they will go to a flower bed permanently.
Fantastic job they look amazing 🥰🥰
Thank you 🤗
Everything looks beautiful!
Thank you! 🤗
Everything looks so beautiful Roxana! I especially love the updated flower bed with the rock boarder. The brick gives it and English country vibe. I have all my planters in my backyard bordered with rocks the same size, and I moved every single one from areas all around my property. I love the look….kind of rustic elegance?
I love that brick path too, gives it that old garden look.
The boxwood ‘wall’ will block all your beautiful flowers!
The idea behind this wall is to create a room, from one side.. it looks minimalist and simply, and once you get past that point the blooms just welcome you.
I feel your pain on heat and humidity. Good job on garlic. 😎
Yes! Thank you!
"THOUSAND DEGREES!" I was cracking up! Loved how you elaborated at the end how nature watered the garlic.
Thanks so much!
Great video and the garlic are looking good.
I planted soft neck Couldn’t find any garlic this was my first time growing I found organic garlic at Walmart planted and mulched with leaves it did good I would like to try hard neck I live central Indiana also on east side. My leaves have turned brown and I pull them this week
Sometimes farmer markets have good options for garlic and you get to choose each piece.
